I Just Gotta Be Me
So guess what?? I'm on Instagram now. How 'bout them apples?? I've actually had an Instagram account for a few months, just did not know what to do with it. Social media is still a "black box" to me, you see. I've been working with a Life Coach to help develop and refine my Realistic FoodEs concept for both this Blog and my business plan. Shoutout to Coach Colene -- She is Awesome!!
Anywho - Coach gave me a quick tutorial. Then challenged me to start using Instagram. Silly as it may seem to you social media savvy folks. Putting myself out there is incredibly challenging for me. But I gritted my teeth 😁 and powered through. Bottom line is that I did it. This afternoon I posted something on Instagram. YIKES!!! I'm really out there. . . . And this is reallll-leeeee scary 😱 So if you do Instagram, please be on the lookout for this Insta-newbie. You can stalk me at "RealisticFoodEs" 😉
My favorite T-shirt has this amazing slogan: "Be Fearlessly Authentic" Words we should all live by. Which is why I bought the T-shirt. That and the fact the material is so incredibly soft and comfy. Ahhhhh -- I love comfy T-shirts!
This slogan was my chill pill as I ventured out into the Instagram world. If I'm going to do this social media thing, I'm going to be true to me!
There are so many talented and skilled real foodies out there. Creating these beautiful and sinfully delicious Real Food masterpieces. I mean, is there a food porn rehab site? Because I am seriously addicted to these tasty gems. Some photos are so amazing that I literally darn near smashed my face in the phone hoping against hope for a hint of a taste 😋
But that is not me. I'm not a talented photographer. I take photos with my phone. Do my best to find good lighting. Can't spend much more time than that. And I'm OK with this. I can't and don't expect to be where many of you are with social media. I love seeing all your fabulously fun photos! So keep posting because it's a great way for me to learn and improve. And hopefully I'll gain the skill set as I keep at this social media thing. Right now though -- I am where I am. This is my lane.
By that same token, if you are just starting your Real Food journey. Or maybe you aren't at the gate right now, just mulling it over. Start with the right frame of mind. As I recently posted -- your mentality throughout your journey is an essential utensil for your Real Food Toolbox.
So from Day 0 of your Real Food journey Be Fearlessly Authentic! That's the "Realistic" part of this Blog. I started this to help you find realistic ways to eat more Real Food and less processed food. But this is your journey. So go at your own pace. You will build upon your skills as you progress. Don't feel like you have to create perfect, fancy meals -- like those you see on social media. And btw -- I'm betting many of these meals are not as difficult as they may look.
A friend recently confessed that she felt bad because she typically "assembles" dinner for her family. This puzzled me. So we talked about why this bothered her. Turns out, she felt guilty about not having enough time to "cook" her family's meals. But the meals she assembled were entirely Real Food!
If the meals you prepare -- however you do this -- will nourish your family and respect your livers. YAY You -- That's fabulous! You're doing great. There's absolutely nothing wrong with assembling Real Food meals. In fact, look at my Daily Success Log. Most of the meals I've been preparing lately are assembled. As I wrote before, Batch Prepping is my saving grace. I always focus on having building blocks available. This way I can "grab & go" or assemble when I find myself in a time crunch.
There are lots of fancy Real Food creations posted on social media. And when I have time, I love to make these (or ones of my own). But when I don't have time -- I just focus on staying in my lane and staying true to my Real Food journey!
So savor all the food porn. These are inspirations. Admire them, but don't hold yourself to them. Just be true to your journey and most of all Be Fearlessly Authentic!!
Kick Sugar To The Curb!
If you decide to take this challenge, please let me know. I have received so much support and positive energy from you all. That I would like to return the favor :-)
