Steak & Potatoes Real Food Style

Here's how to I remade the traditional "Steak & Potatoes" dinner into a nourishing Real Food meal 😋🙌🏽💪🏽👊🏽😍 I start with high quality ingredients. Now by "high quality" I don't mean fancy and extravagant food like filet mignon, lobster, caviar, etc. 💎💰🍾👎🏽

Oh no, no, no, folks. In the Real Food world, "high quality ingredients" refers to locally, organically, sustainably and responsibly farmed, raised, and processed foods. 💯🐄🌱🍽⚖💚 Like what you see in this photo 📷

High quality ingredients like these are whole, unprocessed, unrefined, and nutrient-dense. And pack a much powerful punch 💪🏽🏋🏽‍♀️😉

Contrast this with a "Standard American Diet" (or SAD, which is an appropriate acronym, IMHO). Which will likely feature a well-marbled (i.e., fatty) steak and baked potato or french fries. Nothing colorful or nourishing about that SAD plate.

And if you don't believe me -- Just pay attention to the next TV commercial featuring steak & potatoes 😏

Most notably, the beef would be sourced from a “conventionally” raised cow that spent most of its life in a feedlot. These large feedlots are Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). Really nasty places (a view I share with my vegan friends). CAFO cows are rapidly fattened with grain-based feeds (soy or corn). Given drugs and hormones to grow faster. And antibiotics to survive unsanitary living conditions. The cows live there for a few months. Then moved to factory for slaughtering 😝😱💀👎🏽

100% grass-fed, pasture-raised cows that roam on grasslands their entire lives. I posted an article A Primer on Grass Feed Meat discussing this "high quality" concept. A good read that will contrast from what I just described with CAFO cows.
